After Effects : Session 3

In today's session we were going to learn about ~ Animating objects along a path  particles wiggle expressions Puppet tool Roto brush  So we started with provided assets for our project . It was a illustrator file with different objects in different layers so can animate it.  We started by importing Ai file to composition as composition and with layer size. Then immediately started animating cars along the road and animated them colliding using position and rotation. To make animation smooth we used graph editor and easy ease In .  There after it was time to add particles to make collision look more dramatic. We added a solid layer to the comp and added a particles system preset to it. Then we had to tweak settings a bit to get desired results. We had to trim the layer so particles only comes up in required time.  To add a little more drama to the accident we added a wiggle expression which is shake or jerk in camera. We discussed about what does the expression means by amplitude

Animate: Making Scene Transitions and Walk Cycle

This Activity was very simple and based on Opacity transition which means the transition between two footage or clips by fading away from one another.  We started by creating a new document named city example with; Width: 960    Frame Rate: 30  Height: 640    Platform Type: HTML5 Canvas Then we made 7 new layers for, Actions, Labels, Buttons, City_day, City_night, Sky_day, Sky_Night.  Thereafter, We designed skyscrapers according to our perspectives and added windows and colours with a background of Day and night. However, We had to convert the Buildings and Background into a symbol of the movie clip to animate it in different colours and animate windows.  Then we duplicated it and used the same symbol as the night sky and night buildings. Then we changed things in night assets and drag dropped them into our main scene.  We worked on buttons once that was finished. We worked on texts "Day and Night" and converted them into symbols of buttons to animate it as a button and gi

After Effects : Session 2

We started the session by adding changes to our last project and making it better. We created an adjustment layer and added a fill colour with two masks one with subtract so we can target a particular area to distort. We added a function in the evolution of the wave warp effect. Then we had to warp the text so we added a turbulent displacement effect to that then animated it.  After this, we had to do a display of that composition on an old TV. We had an image in project files so we masked the whole foreground TV into three different layers and subtracted two of them. Then we added the final composition into TV as Tv was playing it in order to do that we had to use a corner pin preset so we can adjust the composition on the screen. After that was finished we also added some mov files of astronaut dancing to make it interesting. We added the background in retro TV composition and added blur and colour correction according to our liking. Now the fun part was to add a parallax effect as w

Animate Project 2 Idea

The first theme which I would like to put up in the project is game Bioshock Infinite. I used to play this game. There is a different utopian city in the clouds which is balanced by air balloons. people are travelling in superfast trains, having robots, etc. I would love to create something related to floating cities in air or water. This without a doubt seems a little far but not impossible.  When I used to play this game the serenity of this city was my favourite part. I would be able to make something similar in Animate and then add sounds and various day and night effects. I was also thinking to combine this concept with solar city because it is indeed future. The other part was robots as Boston dynamics are able to make functional industrial robots then surely in upcoming future they would be everywhere. So certainly one page dedicated to that.    One of the hot topics in this period is Metaverse. There are tons and tons of speculations related to this but according to me this wa

After Effects : Session 1

In this session, we learned a new software called Adobe after effects. I had a lot of experience in after effects I know it's versatile and most used for compositing and motion graphics which attracts most of my interest in this application. We started with creating a shape of the Sun for our tiny solar system. We added the sun's colour and fractal noise effects to give it the look of the actual sun and used blending mode to match noise and colour. Then we pre comped it and learned the importance of pre-comp then we cropped the area we did not need. Then we brought it into the main comp and placed it in the middle. We created earth and moon in similar ways. We had to add some masks on earth as continents. We then proceeded to make a shadow of earth and moon by a solid layer in opacity by duplicating that comp. Then we adjusted it by disabling shadow layers and adjusting levels.  We then animated the whole thing by adding expression in rotation. We also learned the concept of pa

Animate: Session 7 - Sound and Project Development

We started the Project by knowing the Aim of the session. Which was to learn how to add sounds to our website so they can play on the interaction. We saw a project by David which we were about to make. To be honest it seemed hard at first to add sounds but it was a comparatively easy process.  We started by making canvas in landscape mode then we drew the first piano key then we turned it into a symbol of a button inside we animated the keys a little bit to change colours on pressing then on the third key we added the sound by a simple drag and drop. So it automatically adds an attribute into the following duplicated keys so we just have to add different sounds from the drop-down box.  Then After it was all a smooth road because we just had to duplicate keys change the titles and change the sounds. Another thing to mention after duplication of all these keys. We had to find a simpler way to arrange these to add a grid and snap to grid in the project so it snapped to pixels and gave u

Premiere Pro : Colors

In today's session we learned about professional color grading tools in Premiere Pro. We got familiar with few diagrams which represent colors and few new terminology which is used by such tools.  We had raw footage of a steam train and it was faded as most of raw footages are so we color graded it to look more natural and high definition. We did it according to the HSL and LUV . we used multiple tools such as saturation, hue, contrast, brightness, etc Once it was good we had to key out the sky with mask because it was no good. We used ultra key effect and made a mask around that sky patch and inverted it so smoke of train does not come in way.  After that we moved on to color grade water color and fluids which was very interesting and we had a basic idea of what to do as soon as we graded it .I started to experiment with multiple of that footage , ultra key and blending modes etc. I arranged multiple of it in a grid with different blending modes to give it a try and it turned ou

Animate Final Poster Project

Image
The final project was given to us from the first session and sessions were ladders to reach that level. The guidelines for the project were- The Design Museum in London is organizing a new exhibition entitled ‘Visions of the Future’ and will be exhibiting a selection of futuristic objects, machines, and design artifacts. Your task is to create an interactive poster to promote this event. The exhibition will show a range of current innovative artifacts (electric driverless cars, virtual reality devices, space-related technology, wearable technology…) along with retro-tech and iconic innovations from previous eras (that would have seemed extraordinary at the time of their production) like classic televisions, radios, computers, synthesizers, etc... You can decide which objects to showcase on your poster and you will need to do some research to pick out and learn more about your chosen artifacts. Criteria - Content you must include: The title of the exhibition The opening date (10 th  J
